“For I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation,” declares the Apostle Paul in Romans 1:16.  And, what a power it is! Now, things that this world deems to be the most powerful are those things able to destroy unto death. Earthquakes. Avalanches. Hurricanes. Tsunamis. Nuclear bombs. Such mighty manifestations cause the imagination to tremble and humble the bravest of men. Yet, the Gospel renders these thing null and void. Why? Simply put, the Gospel defeats the very worst that these mighty forces can produce. Death. The Gospel conquers death. The Gospel is the true story of death being defeated and life, eternal life, purchased for all who would say “Yes!” to Him who purchased it. Death becomes but a doorway into a better life. The powers that can cause death are less than the power that can vanquish death. And, what power is this? Gospel power! Yet, even this power can be rendered powerless. How? By saying “No” to it. A negative response renders the Good News unable to impact your life. Our choice can make powerless the power that makes all other powers trivial. How fascinating. How shocking. Do not say “No” dear friend. Rather, say “Yes” to Him this day!
