SIMPLE SALVATION

“Seek the LORD while He may be found, Call upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the LORD, and He will have mercy on him; and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon.” – Isaiah 55 v 6 - 7 (NKJV)

What an amazing portion of Scripture! Such divides the salvation experience into three simple steps, emphasising just how easy it is to fall into the arms of grace. Firstly, we must seek the Lord while He may be found, calling upon His name in the lifetime of the searching heart. After death, seeking Him is futile. We must decide whether we are for or against Christ before we take that massive plunge into the afterlife. Our decision here determines our final destination – such being heaven, or hell. Indeed, TODAY is the day of decision, TODAY is the day of salvation!

“Behold now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.” – 2 Corinthians 6 v 2 (NIV)

Secondly, we must turn from unrighteousness. Such relates to repentance, turning from darkness to light, from sin to obedience, from Satan to Christ, from a life void of God to a life filled with God. No grand gesture is required to receive salvation, simply a heartfelt turning and surrender to the Maker of the heavens and the earth, the Creator of our very selves.

“Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord.” – Acts 3 v 19 (NIV)

Finally, Isaiah tells us that the outcome of this seeking and repentance will be salvation, pardon and mercy.

“He is long-suffering (extraordinarily patient) toward you, not desiring that any should perish, but that all should turn to repentance.” – 2 Peter 3 v 9 (Amplified)

Certainly, whenever a seeking heart turns to God, all that heart will find will be the unconditional and overwhelming love of a Father desperate to reconcile with His child. A repentant sinner has nothing to fear before God. There will be no judgement or condemnation. Instead, God will shower that humble soul with an abundance of compassion, healing and restoration.

Yes indeed, the road to salvation cannot be more simple! A simple road, with an eternal consequence. Thank you Jesus – how wonderful You are!
