"For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken Me, the fountain of living waters, and hewn themselves cisterns – broken cisterns that can hold no water." – Jeremiah 2 v 13

Neglecting our relationship with God is most foolish and dangerous. In drawing back from His presence, a void is created in the deepest part of ourselves, that part designed to be inhabited by God alone. As with every void in nature, something rushes to fill that space. God is light. Ultimate, total, unblemished, unfailing light. Whatever rushes to fill that void – in comparison to God – is a black and tainted thing. Darkness reigns in the place where the Light once took delight. Decay replaces life. Bondage supersedes freedom. Let us cling to our Lord, never shrinking back but forever drawing closer to that Light that gives us life. When He takes pre-eminence within we are complete, our hearts at unity with the Creator.
